After over two years of serving our chapter, our Chapter President is stepping down. She will still be involved with our chapter, but for personal reasons she does not have time to handle the responsibilities of Chapter President. We thank her for her service!

While we are sad to see her step down, this provides an opportunity for a new Chapter President, as well as other board positions. You are invited to nominate the president, vice president, and secretary who will serve our PFLAG Lawrenceville chapter for the next two years (October 2026 through September 2028). Members ARE able to self-nominate for all positions!

The President shall:
 

• Develop the chapter Budget alongside Treasurer 

• Report Quarterly to the Regional Director

• Preside over each meeting to do with the chapter

• Designate others to represent our chapter

• Head the chapter efforts in building alliances with people of color, LGBTQ+ adults and youth, those of diverse faiths, people with disabilities, and people of any other backgrounds, as well as other community partners and organizations

• Perform any other duties that from time to time may be assigned by the Board or PFLAG National

 

The Vice President shall:
 

• Assist with the President’s duties as assigned.

• Take over when the President is absent or needs assistance.

• Serve as a spokesperson for the chapter with input from the President and Board

 

The Secretary shall:
 

• Maintain minutes of all meetings of the Board and of the general membership

• Send notices for all meetings of the general membership

• Assist with sending regular chapter emails 

• Send out notices for the Annual General Membership Meeting

• Perform such other duties that from time to time may be assigned by the Board

Anyone may nominate themselves or another person, regardless of paid membership status. Each nomination should include the name and the email address or phone number (if known) of the person being nominated. If they accept the nomination, their name will be added to the ballot.

The nomination period is now open. Nominations must be submitted to the election committee by 11:59 PM Eastern time on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The final step in this process will be voting, which will begin after the nomination period ends. Chapter members who have paid annual dues will receive an email with short biographies of the nominees and a link to online voting. Chapter members may cast ONE vote. If you are not currently a chapter member but would like to become one, please go to the membership page on our website and pay dues securely via PayPal. If you need another payment method, please contact us via email.

When the voting period closes, votes will be tallied, and the candidates and PFLAG Lawrenceville participants will be notified of the results. The new officers will take office for their two-year terms from October 2026 through September 2028. Training will be provided by the current Chapter President. She will also be available to answer questions from new board members.
